You are Welcome to Attend: Police Explorers meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, excluding holidays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sparks Police Department, unless otherwise specified.  Sparks Police Explorers are challenged to learn and perform many of the normal duties of a Police Officer during their training scenarios. Explorers learn in both the classroom and field environment, including actual “hands-on” experiences.  Presentations include training on police duties, forensic science, self-defense, investigation, and even firearms training.  Police Explorers wear uniforms that are purchased by the Sparks Police, but the uniforms are different from that of an officer to differentiate them while in public view. Explorers provide their own duty belts, pants, and shoes.

Throughout the year, the Explorers plan and participate in fundraisers of their choice to raise money for competitions.  Police Explorers have attended local and national competitions and training to showcase their training and skills learned at their meetings.

To be eligible to join the Sparks Police Explorer Post #106, you must be under the age of 21, but at least 14, and have successfully completed 8th grade. If you are enrolled in school, you are required to have and maintain a 2.0 GPA and you must pass a background check.
