Welcome to the City of Sparks! The City of Sparks provides sanitary sewer lines and storm drain facilities throughout the city limits. When ownership of property changes, Customer Service is usually notified by the title company that handled the ownership change. Residential sewer customers are billed at the beginning of every quarter. Please expect your first bill by the 15th of the first month of the quarter.
Effective April 1, 2026 the new quarterly rate on ALL residential sewer accounts will be $130.71 per unit. Please contact us by email at sewer@sparksnv.gov with any questions regarding this change.

Business Licensing

If you are conducting business within the city limits of Sparks, you will need to obtain a business license.
Per SMC 5.04.020, “Business” means and includes all professions, trades, occupations and callings of every kind carried on for profit, including labor unions, labor organizations and trade unions, but excepting activities conducted as a hobby or for the purpose of supplementing a person’s major income and which gross receipts do not exceed one thousand dollars per year. “Business” includes the renting or leasing of any commercial or industrial property or more than ten separate residential units or four or more residential units under one roof in the city.

The City of Sparks is delighted to offer you a number of options in paying your sewer bill.
- Pay Online with a VISA or MasterCard at cityofsparks.us/paymybill. On our payment website, you can make a one-time payment and/or schedule automatic payments.
- Authorize a Direct Debit from your checking account. Look for the authorization form at cityofsparks.us/directdebit.
- Make payments with your bank’s Bill Pay service. When scheduling a payment, please reference your complete account number.
- Drop Box located at the west entrance of City Hall at 431 Prater Way.
- By Mail with check or money order to the City of Sparks, PO Box 6007 Whittier, CA 90607-6007 .
- By Phone 24 hours a day with VISA or MasterCard (775) 353-5555 Option1.
- In Person with cash, check, money order, VISA, MasterCard, or Discover at City Hall, 431 Prater Way Sparks, NV 89431.
Direct debit is the worry-free way to pay your sewer bill! With this service, the amount due on your billing statement is automatically deducted from your bank account on the due date. Look for the authorization form at cityofsparks.us/directdebit
Prefer auto pay with a credit or debit card? Register on our payment website at www.cityofsparks.us/sewer and sign up for auto pay. The amount due on your billing statement is automatically deducted from your card on the due date. Please note: our payment website currently only accepts VISA and MasterCard.

When a property has a change of ownership, Client Relations is usually notified by the title company that handled the close of escrow. Services are transferred after the close of escrow. Residential sewer customers are billed at the beginning of every quarter. For additional questions, please email our office at clientrelations@sparksnv.gov
Residential sewer customers are billed at the beginning of each quarter. (January, April, July and October) Please expect to receive your statement by the 20th of the first month of the quarter.
Commercial sewer customers are billed on a monthly basis.
No, sewer services must remain in the legal owner's name.
Per City of Sparks Ordinance 13.27.010:
The City shall bill the owner of the premises connected to the wastewater facilities for payment of sewer user charges. The owner of record according to the records on file with the Office of the County Assessor shall be responsible for the payment of monthly sewer user charges as specified in this title.
The one exception is to bill in care of a property management company.
