The City of Sparks provides safe roadway access in an environmentally sound manner during the winter months.

Priority is given to arterial and collector streets, school zones, and bus routes. Residential streets are not sanded and/or plowed during snow events due to the effort and resources needed on Priority 1 and Priority 2 roadways. The City's snow and ice-control material is primarily a mixture of salt and sand, along with salt brine, used as a pre-treatment for grades and bridges to help keep these areas open.
